Geraint Thomas In Giro Race

Geraint Thomas has moved to second overall position after completion of stage four.


Being part of Team Sky’s Geraint Thomas has made this accomplishment by finishing third in the Giro d’Italia. The Welshman was behind Bob Jungels by about six seconds and was the fourth man to be leading the race. He was ahead of Adam Yates of Britain. As per Geraint’s quotes that he provided to BBC Sport, the three week race that is currently underway takes the riders on a route from Pedara to Messina and it will conclude on the 28th of May in Milan. He states that there was headwind in the last two kilometers, which made everyone apprehensive. Geraint feels that it gave him a sprint to the third overall place and a chance to up his position in the last few crucial seconds.

Team Sky Reveals Secret Weapon For Cobbled Routes

Sky has unveiled their secret weapon that would assist them in the cobbled routes. It’s a special suspension cobble bike from Pinarello Dogma range, co-engineered by Jaguar.

The cobble-smoothing suspension bike would be used by Sky stalwarts like Bradley Wiggins, Geraint Thomas & other riders from the team in the coming Flanders Tour & Paris-Roubaix.

The carbon-fibre bike features shock placed on top of wishbone seat. Equipped with Dogma Suspension technology, the Pinarello bike affords 10mm movement. It’s engineered to soften riding blow over the cobblestones & keep rear wheel well tracked over the rough surfaces.

Christian Knees and Bradley Wiggins tested the special bike last month on cobbled route of last 130 kms of Paris-Roubaix track. The suspension bike has been released post extensive testing & performance analysis & was only launched after being assured of guaranteed compatibility with the Classics.

As per Sky, the cycle frame weighs around 900g. Pinarello & Jaguar have come up with flat carbon, flexible fibre chain stays to accommodate rear movement.

Figures produced from Jaguar showed that the all-new K8-S bike frame aided to create overall performance increment of 4.6 percent & 50 percent enhanced comfort for cyclists over the tough terrains from earlier Dogma K version.

Geraint Thomas Says His Volta Ao Algrave Win Was An Unexpected One

Geraint Thomas, the 28 years old Welsh Professional Cyclist who rides for the British team Sky has said that his winning the Volta ao Algrave’s second stage was something that he never expected to happen. Geraint Thomas was behind the 27 year old Estonian cyclist who rides for team Astana but he finally managed to beat the Estonian to the finish line.

Thomas said that after he decided to follow the Astana rider, he took a look at the back and saw that the rest of the racers are behind him. After that he took some deep breaths and rode as fast as can and managed to maintain a fair amount of gap in between him and Taaramae.

Geraint Thomas was 19 seconds ahead of Taaramae. Geraint Thomas said that he honestly didn’t expect to win by such a margin. He said that it was known to him that his performance was well but he didn’t know how hard the climb would be. He said that it was a steep climb in the beginning and then at the middle it was not that much steep but the climb towards the top was indeed a steep one. He said that on the way down, it is possible to reduce the gap and he did manage to put in enough effort to become the winner of the race. READ MORE

Team Sky Arranges A Team Building Day

Team building day with Portland National Sailing Academy (WPNSA) and British Sailing Team at the Weymouth have taught the top riders of Team Sky to learn the ropes.

The riders on that day included Geraint Thomas, the two times Olympic gold medalist and winner of Tour de France Chris Froome. The two swapped wheels to sail three times at the sail sport venue which today is getting the attention of everyone starting from sailors to windsurfers and top athletes from every sport. READ MORE

Thomas to participate at Dunkerque-Roubaix

Great news for Geraint Thomas fans- the leading Brit rider would be reportedly participating in the amateur 1-day event of Dunkerque-Roubaix which takes place in 9 challenging pave sections.

The Hotchillee riding event would be on its 2nd season the coming year. According to sources, the flagship event of Hotchillee is scheduled for April, 2015.

The Dunkerque-Roubaix involves a 165 km long course which is divided into 9 pave sectors that one finds on cobbled classic cycling race of Paris-Roubaix and also includes Carrefour de l’Arbre. The riders would also be experience the coveted feel of finishing at legendary velodrome of Roubaix, by the finalization of the race.

The Dunkerque-Roubaix 1-day race riders would even have this rare opportunity to use the legendary showers there post the race – prior to relishing their glasses in the legendary bar, soaked in rich cycling history.

The riders would be split in different speed groups & can take part in the very flagged race part that includes 5 pave sections & finishes on Carrefour de l’Arbre.

According to sources, added to Geraint Thomas, another big name to join in the Dunkerque-Roubaix event coming April is Stephen Roche. The Tour France legend is also renowned for his spectacular victory at Junior 1980 Paris-Roubaix.

As with the other events with Hotchillee, that include Alpine Challenge & London-Paris, the riders would get to experience what they love to refer to tag as complete “pro experience” along with the rolling road enclosures, support vehicles plus the timed racing section.

Those looking to enter the event would be welcomed with a good dinner the very night prior to the racing event along with fellow amateurs as ell as star pros & former pros. Hotchillee would also provide needed accommodation for the night before the race & breakfast-lunch on race day.
